Polis

Polis is a commissioned art project to celebrate the 100th birthday of Boston University's Questrom School of Business. It was inspired by the different faces and languages seen and heard on campus. Students from around the world gather here to learn, explore and meet new people, contributing to this fabric of diversity.

Two complimentary sections

Polis consists of two sections. The first being a map collage of major cities where Questrom students come from, creating a new polis. The rivers and streets of various cities are joined together, symbolizing how students from different parts of the world are integrated and connected. The second part of Polis is a series of abstract paintings inspired by the map collage. The lines, shapes, and layers mirror those on the map, albeit simplified. The choice of primary colors represent the basic building blocks of our diverse cultures – individuals.
